2026 Mid-Year Update

The study of economics is particularly tricky, which is why it is known as the “dismal science”. Because there are so many interconnected variables for macroeconomic policy and financial forecasting, it is difficult to give an unconditional assessment of economic issues. President Harry S. Truman famously said, “Give me a one-handed economist….[because] all my economists say, ‘on the one hand’ and then ‘on the other.’” While political leaders on both sides of the aisle are laser-focused on the one side of the argument that favors their persuasion, our responsibility is to be more even-handed.
